Dance as an Embodiment Practice explores how non-performative dance can serve as a means to deepen our awareness of internal sensations, emotions, and a sense of presence to the extent that participants (a) gain personal insights that support their emotional well-being and/or (b) expand their capacity for embodied connection with their own bodies. November 1, 3-5pm Waterloo, ON (in-person)

In this class, participants will be guided through a session (with the option for an abbreviated version as needed). Afterward, we will engage in a deconstruction of the essential components that transform dance into a practice of embodiment, distinct from traditional goals of performance, choreography, or fitness.

Key elements of this approach include: prioritizing safety and fostering inclusion; de-emphasizing cognitive analysis during movement; and exploring energetically masculine versus energetically feminine approaches to learning and practising.
