Resource - Everyday Dances

Abstract: 
Through the use of movements common in everyday activities, students develop and choreograph group dances.

Overview

Pre-requisite Knowledge

  • It would be beneficial for the students to have knowledge and/or experience with the five elements of movement, i.e. relationship, time, energy, space, and body.

Focus

  • Through the use of movements common in everyday activities, students will develop and choreograph group dances. 

Overall Expectations

Refer to Grade 5 to 8 Dance for appropriate expectations. 

 

Materials and Resources

  • You will require a large open space where the students can form circles of 5-7 students.

Teacher's Notes

  • Everyday Dances will take 1 hour from modelling to the final group dances performed.
  • Due to the nature of the lesson, the students should be reminded of the inherent safety precautions they should be aware of while creating/rehearsing/performing.
