Our Artists as Disruptors Learning Hub explores the ways that cultural contexts for art-making are the conditions of life that artists are responding to when creating. In other words, artists use art to disrupt systems of oppression and when we teach our students about these systems, we introduce them to the context that artists resisted or responded to when creating. It also invites students to consider what oppressions or systems they might want to respond to or resist in their own art-making. This hub is a place to start preparing for these conversations, to find artists making art in response to particular systems, and resources (units, lessons, plays, picture books) that are potentially connected to those contexts.
