Subject: Concerned about my son
Dear Teacher,
I am writing to inform you that my son has been away from school for over a week with what I thought was just the flu. I have taken him to the doctor and it seems that there is nothing serious …no temperature, no virus or infection. He does not want to return to school yet and is spending a lot of time in his bed. He has very little energy.
I am worried that he is missing schoolwork and it will be hard for him to catch up. He has had some trouble understanding his lessons in the past and has had to get extra help. I do not want this to happen again.
I am also worried that he has seemed very sad. He does not want to talk about this. When I have asked if his friends could bring him home some work, he says that he has no real friends. I wonder if this is true.
I am starting to think that there is something going on at school. He has lost his backpack and I feel helpless about finding out what is going on.
Perhaps you can speak to the students and find out if there is a problem at school. Perhaps one of them even knows where his backpack is. I will be coming to the school on Wednesday to speak with you and the Principal about getting the backpack, some work and maybe even getting some idea of what is going on.
Yours Truly,
Monique Grover
