NOTE: The final lesson and performance days fell over three days during the execution of the Reconciling the Future project. This will look different depending on the scope and breadth of your project.
Lesson Overview - Two full days of performances on site at A Path Forward, followed by the Consolidation Activity on day three.
Learning Goals:
- Perform publicly four times learning from each performance to influence the next
- Understanding the importance of the creative process and the need to rehearse and refine the final product
- Collaboration and teamwork
- The ability to articulate answers based on questions about their work during the Question and Answer sessions
- Reflect on their own work
- Walk through the self and peer assessment process
Readiness:
Students have had time to create, rehearse and refine scenes and stories, as well as work through the entire Collective Creation performance as a rough copy and dress rehearsal. Also, mock Question and Answer periods have given them an opportunity to practice how to formulate answers to questions about their work.

Daily Schedule for Reconciling the Future - Justice as Our Path Forward:
8:15am - ADC3M/4M students arrive on site at “A Path Forward”
8:30am - Physical and Vocal Warm Up (Approximately 12-15 minutes)
8:50am - Audience arrives
9am-9:20am - the Audience explores the art and is able to ask ADC3M/4M students questions about the artwork
9:20am - Reconciling the Future performance (25 minutes)
9:45am - Question and Answer period
10:30am - Lunch
11:30am - Physical and Vocal Warm Up (Approximately 12-15 minutes)
11:50am - Audience arrives
12pm-12:20pm - the Audience explores the art and is able to ask ADC3M/4M students questions about the artwork
12:20pm - Reconciling the Future performance (25 minutes)
12:45pm - Question and Answer period
Minds On (For the Students)
- Recap and discuss the prior performance/rehearsal.
- Vocal and Physical Warm up prior to each performance.
Minds On (For the Audience)
20 minutes to explore the gallery, look at and analyze all of the art, while simultaneously being able to ask the senior drama students questions about the art.
Action
20-25 minute performance of Reconciling the Future - Justice as Our Path Forward x4.
Consolidation
20-25 minute Question and Answer session with the audience formulating and posing questions to the creators of the piece.
Final Consolidation - Peer and Self Evaluation and Final Reflection (see PDF #6 and #7)
