In this summative assignment, students use their knowledge of Greek theatre elements to prepare their own retelling of a myth using tableaux, movement narration and choral speaking techniques.
- Form a group of 5-6 people and choose a myth for exploration from the sample stories provided.
- Highlight the 5 most important moments in your myth and create a Tableau for each. Create interesting ways of transitioning from one tableau to the next using the ritual movement elements explored in class.
- Use a variety of vocal techniques, such as a Narrating Chorus and Choral Speaking, to tell the story as we see the tableaux. You may also wish to write your own poem or choral piece to accompany your presentation.
- You may use music, costume pieces and props (such as masks) to enhance your presentation.
